Memento Mori

2003 | glass sculpture | 110 cm | unique edition

Memento Mori is a spine, consisting of 24 vertebra like forms in blown glass.
The shadows on the wall illuminate the hidden side of life that is revealed
through some third force or technical intervention. As in Radiology and MRI
scanning make visible in Medicine, the hidden world within us, light through
glass reveals its hidden movement and makeup. I have used glass as a fragile
yet robust material, that along with the shadows, expresses the fragility of
existence and the memories, of passed lives.
